I had this problem back in January. I contacted Steam support and posted to the Family Sharing group. I never got a solution.
For me, this was the first person I was trying to add to Family Sharing. Neither of us had added anyone, so any limit being exceeded was definitely not an issue.
I pretty much gave up on Family Sharing after that. Like most things with Steam, besides the games and sales, these extra features are usually broken garbage.
Quarter Century Club and family discount rate
Main Post:
Hello, my dad has the quarter century club card but was laid off from Marriott. Can we, his family, use the friends and family rate still?
Top Comment:
Just got the scoop from my GM. It has been suspended, but think it starts again next week. Your dad has use of it whether or not he works for Marriott. He earned it.
However, you cannot use it or get a discounted rate from him. It is for him only. It does not work the same as his employee discount.

Spy x Family is a government propaganda to promote having a traditional family and raising kids
Main Post:
For those who doesnât know, Spy x Family is a recent anime that has seen huge popularity both in Japan and globally. The story depicts the protagonist, who is a spy, having a genuine happy family life with his âpretense familyâ while continuing his spy works. Despite the fictional spy war premise, characters are seen having a relatively normal family life with realistic struggles and joyful moments. It also offers solid parenting advices at times through either dialogue or actions.
As we all know it, young people these days are less and less likely to form a traditional family and âsettle downâ due to increasing economic pressure, changing value/mindset and concerns over possible issue related to marriage/raising kids. This obviously contributes to the low birth rate issue that governments over the world are trying to deal with. Japan is having this problem especially hard. It is entirely possible that the Japanese government thinks of using manga/anime, media format that are popular among young people, to promote the ideal of traditional family. By showing the audience the happiness and fulfillment they can get by having such family life, and how it is beneficial to their personal development, assuring them that any potential issues can be solved, this series will for sure have some impact on peopleâs decision to get married and have kids.
It is not entirely clear how much involvement the government has in the series. Perhaps itâs their project from scratch, or they collaborated with the author after the manga had gained some popularity. What we know now is that at the very least itâs given extra media resources for its exposure/advertisements. The author probably receive instruction/suggestion on how to proceed the story as well.
Top Comment: Every year or so, there's an anime that's clearly sponsored by the Japanese government to try and get people to have a family. Spy x Family just so happened to also be a very popular manga before it was animated. I think that the Japanese government is starting to realize that they're facing a true emergency here. They brought in much easier immigration a few years ago, which is still laughably low (about 200k/year before covid). So now they need to help their people get their fuck on, and the best way to do that is to provide a better work/life balance for them. The last few laws even had a set maximum amount of overtime, and increased overtime pay. Including for salaried people. The overtime limit is way better than what's in the United States (there isn't one), the overtime pay for salaried employees is way better than what's in the United States (there isn't any), the mandatory minimum vacation time of two weeks, scaling up to 5 with seniority is way better than the United States (there isn't minimum vacation time), and the right to labor unions is also way better than what's in the United States (technically the United States has it, but good luck not facing retaliation). They're also working to make being a parent easier. For pre- and neo-natal care, you are given an assigned midwife, paid checkups, paid parenting classes, and the ćŻĺć帳, (boshi techou, mother and child health book) which helps the parents track and keep record of the mother's and child's health. They also brought in paternity leave (8 weeks nationally), and are providing not only child tax credits, but also a (small) monthly lump sum of cash (10,000-15,000 ÂĽ) for every child up to 15 years of age. Plus free daycare starting at three years old. They're taking steps in the right direction. But to say that the Japanese government moves at a snail's pace is an insult to all of the hard working snails of the world. Most of this information was sourced from The Guidebook for Foreign Nationals Living and Working in Japan - English Edition, v2 . An official publication by the Japanese government. The changes to the overtime laws are discussed in brief here: Soft paywall .
